Currently, Starlink strikes me and many others as a laudable option, especially as individual sovereign states pull the plug whenever it conveniences their autocratic agendas. But that is potentially an unfathomable amount of power for a private company (person) to possess. Doesn't Starlink's expanding dominion over global internet access represent hyper-centralization?
As I have mused to friends recently, the United Nations really hasn't had a true mandate in quite some time - it would seem to be a solid venue in which to work out the nuances of administering global internet access. However, universal access initiatives struggle right now to get traction at even just the country level.
IMO, Tesla and SpaceX are essentially marketing ruses molding public perception - Musk's wealth and power are just beginning. And, all signs seem to indicate he is going to take the minable Doge along for the ride.
