According to reports, Venezuelan authorities have requested that local bitcoin miners temporarily cease operations while they investigate a significant corruption scheme that could have stolen up to $20 billion.

It is believed that members of President Maduro's closest circle were involved in planning the crime that implicated Petróleos de Venezuela, the country's oil and gas business.
